Magicians are often hired to perform at bachelor/bachelorette
parties. Depending on the number of guests, a close-up
magician may be used or a small stage or parlor show might do the trick. If
your event stresses material of adult content, Be sure to let any potential
magicians know if your event is stressing adult content material, as some
performers might be better suited to that type act than others. Sometimes a
magician will also be willing to act as Master of Ceremonies and not only
perform, but will also oversee raffles, games, and other types of
activities. Religious ceremonies are also places
where magicians are often asked to perform. When hiring a performer
keep in mind the average age of the attendees at the event and try to hire a
magician with experience working with that age group. Be sure to
make the performer aware of any restrictions on the performance such as
animals, sound systems, etc.
Children's birthday parties - a venue which must have specifically been
invented with the magician in mind. Often times the
magician will offer additional forms of talent to complement their show such
as balloon sculptures, face painting, storytelling, etc. It is
always a good idea to let the performer know the number of children expected
at the event as well as the age group since many performers provide give
aways and don't want to run short. In the case as of a balloon
worker they want to make sure they bring enough balloons of the different
types so as to please and entertain all your special guests.
Adult birthday parties -- another venue at which a
magician can enhance the event. Should you have
adult oriented theme in mind, be sure that the performer knows in advance
just as you should let them know if you DO NOT want any adult oriented or
off color material. Don't assume the act will be one type or the
other, better clarify it in advance.
Holiday events -- Magicians for the most part have holiday themed shows that
they perform. It's a good idea to let the performer know in
advance what holiday you are celebrating -- this may sound silly but you
wouldn't want a Christmas oriented show at a Chanukah party or vice versa.
It also helps if you let the performer know in advance the approximate
number of guests expected and the age group in general.
Cocktail parties and adult parties of all types are also a good place to
have a magical performance. The number of guests will
often determine whether you want a small stand up or parlor show versus a
close-up walk around magician for larger groups.
Again, be sure to let the performer know ahead of time if you adult oriented
material is either expected and/or appropriate.
Magicians can be used to perform a number of ways at Wedding Anniversaries
as well as wedding receptions, engagement parties and other such events
For any other special event, from housewarming to baby showers, going away,
welcome home and more, call magicians in your area and ask for suggestions
and ideas - they are normally more than happy to assist. |

most effective way to increase business in a restaurant with a magician is

the performances, which brings in new customers.

be charged to students to offset the magician's payment or the magician may
accept a portion of each fee as payment. Additionally some magicians who
perform shows for schools with educational and safety themes.

magic, a stand up stage/parlor type show or a combination of both, this can

a stage/parlor show (or several shows, depending on the length of the
event).

Therapeutic Magic |
Although
magicians do perform at these facilities, there are some issues to
keep in mind. Magicians sometimes use a great deal of audience participation
and volunteers, make the magician aware of the limitations of the audience.
Also, before hiring the magician, make sure to let him know any regulations
regarding the use of animals, fire, balloons, food items, etc.
In some instances, a magician might use swords, scissors or other sharp
object as a part of their act - be sure the magician is aware of the
policies with regards to these items.
The National magic organizations have special programs wherein magicians
teach fundamental magic to patients for either therapeutic and/or
rehabilitative purposes. You might consider contacting either
the Society of American Magicians or
the International Brotherhood of Magicians
for further information on these programs. |
